How We Met
In June of 2017, I encountered a frisky, feisty, playful female tuxedo cat in my yard. She ran up to me, headbutted my hand fiercely, and ran away only to return again for another headbutt. Her playfulness reminded us of Krishna, and we called her the female version of Krishna. I loved her immediately. She was like a little yard orca, flipping and jumping. She’d run up a tree and jump off it midway. Those interactions went on all summer as we continued to wonder where on earth she lived. As the summer went on, her feet got dirtier and more calloused. She’d run up to us during torrential downpours, soaked to the bone. One day, a neighbor called and told my Mom (who is also a neighbor) that the cat almost had been hit by a car on the busy street near our house. It was time to make a decision about this cat. I scooped her up and took her to the vet. She had a chip. Her owner said she thought the cat was dead and didn’t want her back. I cried and cried. I couldn’t believe somebody didn’t want this wonderful cat, but I knew I did. We named her Radha, thinking she’d be a wonderful companion for Krishna. In reality, Krishna is kind of afraid of Radha, and she is a bit of a loner in the house. Radha is very attuned to her humans, but she doesn’t know how to interact with other cats very well. Her body language says “attack” instead of “play,” and she leaves the other cats confused. She’s getting better around the other cats, but it’s still a work in progress.
