It’s been too long since I posted. Just weeks after my last post, Kentucky reported its first case of Covid-19 on March 6, 2020. By March 13th, the country went into lockdown. Our lives came to an abrupt halt.

My husband and I work from home so nothing changed in that department, but we lost our normal social activities during those first months. We no longer had Thursday night trivia. I no longer had my regular lunches with friends or Sunday morning yoga and brunch. I stopped going to the gym. We weren’t hanging out with family and friends on the weekends. We weren’t travelling anymore. We weren’t dining out anymore. We coudldn’t go to the movies. Everything stopped for a while.

After a few months, we started hanging out with friends and family outdoors. We developed new social patterns, including yoga in the yard with outdoor brunch, outdoor movie night, fire pit time, screened-in porch time, and pool-sitting time. In many ways, we became more social during the pandemic, and we are still doing many of those activities today.

Life went on. We renovated and sold our rental property that was also our first home. We travelled to Pennsylvania, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Florida. We even went to Iceland. I helped family members with illnesses and surgeries. We worked. We volunteered. We returned to trivia night and yoga. I tried to return to the gym (that didn’t take).

Something I did not do during all this time was contribute to this blog. I had all the time in the world and plenty of subject matter all around me, and I just didn’t do it. I could surf my phone for hours, but I couldn’t be bothered to post a cat photo on Instagram or provide updates on my cats here. Maybe it was a failure of executive function. Maybe I was just lazy. Maybe it’s Maybelline. Whatever it is…I just didn’t do it.

Well, I’m back. My cats are back, well most of them (that’s a long story for a different day). I have a new cat (that’s also another story). I now have a diabetic cat (yet another story). Let the stories begin!
